An alkaline bath removes oil and grease.
Pickling
Hydrochloric acid removes rust and oxides.
Rinsing
Residues from the acid bath are washed away.
Fluxing
The surface is prepared against reoxidation.
Drying
Moisture is removed to reduce splashing during immersion.
Zinc coating
Steel and zinc react in a zinc bath at approximately 450 °C.
Cooling
The coated material cools in atmospheric conditions.
Finishing
The surface is cleaned after coating.
Packing and dispatch
The material is packed and prepared for dispatch.
